Meet The Models: Daniel

Daniel and I met late last year on Instagram and we didn’t waste any time doing any shooting and the pace was fast and furious! I never know how things could turn out but I think we make a great team! So far, we’ve shot for Kapow Meggings and for his latest single - and I think it’s time for another shoot ASAP!

NAME: Daniel (but I call myself Dumbass)
BIRTHDAY: November '96! Technically Gen Z.
HOMETOWN: I don't really know. We moved around a lot growing up. I feel like I have a lot of hometowns, but also none, if that makes sense.
CURRENT CITY: Nashville, TN

WHAT IS YOUR STORY: I never know how to answer this question. I think, to accurately tell my story, I would need my entire lifetime to think it over and figure out the important bits. You can't really tell a good story unless you know the ending. Plus I never want to be boxed in. I am a contradiction and a duality in almost every way. I consider myself a musician - though, until this new album comes out, you'll be hard-pressed to find anything more than a couple singles online. Or maybe an album or two on Noisetrade. I don't want to be defined by my old work, so I'm stuck in a perpetual cycle of taking my old music down and never having anything to show for myself.

BOXERS OR BRIEFS? I go right down the middle. Boxer briefs. If you wear standard boxers, you're a psycho. Simple as that. Though, recently, I've developed an appreciation for briefs - especially now that it's getting warmer. High quality shit, though. Tommy Hilfiger is my guy. MeUndies for working out because their fabric is the only stuff that doesn't give me a rash. I feel like I have underwear PTSD. I grew up wearing Hanes and Fruit Of The Loom until they had holes in them; threadbare; I mean some real worn out shit, man. So do I have an obsession with high quality underwear as an adult? Yeah, you could say that. Probably need counseling for it. 

WHEN DO YOU FEEL MOST CONFIDENT? Definitely when I'm at the gym and I'm getting my ass kicked. Today I got a master back from a track I finished recently and it sounded so fucking crisp and punchy. I hopped in the car and went for a drive with the windows down so I could blast it. I felt pretty confident then. 

WHAT DO YOU HOPE YOUR NEXT GREAT ACHIEVEMENT WILL BE? I love this question. Recently, I've become obsessed with mixed martial arts. I started training Muay Thai a couple months ago. If I had the time and money to devote to fighting, I would aim to go pro in a year. Unfortunately, that's not realistic right now. I'm telling people my new album will come out next year - just so I can take my time to really dial it in. When I release it, that will be a great achievement. Lately, instead of aiming for goals and achievements, I've been trying to appreciate and rejoice in the daily process. Every day that I can keep my shit together and make some progress in any area of myself/my life, that is an achievement.

WHAT IS THE BRAVEST THING YOU’VE DONE? Interesting question. Being confident in myself. 

WHAT IS YOUR MUSICAL STYLE AND WHERE DO YOU SEE YOUR MUSICAL CAREER GOING IN THE FUTURE? Probably Alt Pop. I tend to make moody, dramatic tracks. As far as where my career goes, I don't know. I have no clue. You can really cripple yourself by thinking about that. I try to just focus on the craft. Trying to make good shit is more than enough for me to handle. It would be a dream come true to write for a bunch of different artists while also quietly releasing my own stuff. And I do mean quietly. Fame is poison. I want people to hear my music but I don't want the exposure or the spotlight.

WHAT IS AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE YOU’VE BEEN A PART OF? I'm not really sure. Honestly, I hope I get dementia and lose all my memory.

HOW DO YOU FEEL IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA? So awkward. I never know what kind of face to make or what to do with my hands. 

WHICH MALE CELEBRITY WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO SEE IN A PAIR OF KAPOW MEGGINGS? Danny Devito. Hah - weren't expecting that, were you? I don't know, man. I'm gonna double down on Danny Devito. Or can I choose Lightning McQueen from Cars? Cause like... how would he wear them?
